Knox Alexander has a special place in our hearts at St. Eia. Many moons ago, whilst first learning about wine, this was the bottle that jumped out at us and made us realise there was more to wine. It's been a feature of our wine lists and dinner table ever since.

Immediately jumping out at you with a super dense nose. Tonnes of fruit and a decent whack of oak, although totally integrated, the wine is quite weighty but also somehow retains a lightness and elegance. Supremely balanced.

100% Pinot Noir from Au Bon Climat's highest and coolest vineyards, we think this is one of the best Pinot Noirs to come out of the new world.

Au Bon Climat wines are always crafted with a nod to Burgundy, where the inimitable, and now sadly departed winemaker, or 'mind behind' as he preferred, Jim Clendenen cut his winemaking teeth. We were fortunate enough to meet and have dinner with Jim on a couple of occasions, a legendary winemaker, true party animal and absolute gentleman. At the time he had taken up penning political rap tunes primarily it seemed to embarrass his son Knox, whom this wine is named after, they sounded quite good to me after a few gallons of wine.
